14 Feb St Valentine’s day and Marriage Week are Special
We are delighted to point you to the Marriage Week message by Bishop Bosco of Clifton Diocese. He is the lead bishop for Marriage and Family Life. He says: “For Christians, marriage isn’t just a legal agreement, it’s a special promise between husband and wife, like the covenant between God and humanity. And God’s promises are always fruitful.” It’s something that we understand and it’s good to have the words that we can use too, when speaking of Christian marriage, to others.
He quotes Pope Benedict XVI “marriage is a source of hope”. We know life is a journey – so let’s resolve in our special St Valentine’s sit down that we have today, or tomorrow, or when we can…. that we ask, “How can we be loving pilgrims during this special Jubilee Year of Hope?” How can we take our spouse on a special journey, perhaps including anticipation, intrigue, effort, joy, the wonders of creation, most of all the wonder of each of us being made in His image of Love, so that we grow to better know God, better know our spouse and better know ourselves.
Bishop Bosco says Marriage Week is a chance for married couples to strengthen their bond, lets decide to make it so!
See Bishop Bosco’s full message www.cbcew.org.uk/bishops-message-for-marriage-week – and there are additional testimonies about Hope in Marriage linked on the same page.
We wish all couples a special time of closeness and joy.
