How Does It Work?

Each Team is typically made up of 5–7 couples, accompanied by a priest or spiritual counsellor.

Teams meet once a month, usually in one another’s homes, to:

    • share a simple meal and time together,
    • pray as couples,
    • reflect on Scripture and married life,
    • support one another in living faith daily.

It is a gentle, step-by-step journey.

Couples begin with an introduction period before making any commitment, and are always free to discern whether Teams is right for them.

We offer a simple, step-by-step process of discernment.

Get in touch to explore whether Teams is right for your marriage.

1. Initial Contact
  • Reach out via our contact form or email.
  • You’ll be connected with a local coordinator or sector couple who will guide you.
2. Information & Discernment

The coordinator explains the spirituality, commitments, and rhythm of life in Teams.

  • Together, you and your spouse reflect:
    • Are we ready for monthly meetings?
    • Are we open to simple spiritual practices (couple prayer, family prayer, rule of life, annual retreat)?
  • This is a time of listening, learning, and discernment.
3. Joining a Local Team
  • Ideally, couples form a new Team of 5–7 couples plus a priest or counsellor.
  • Teams are often grouped by geography, age, or stage of life.
  • Sometimes couples may be invited to join an existing nearby Team.
4. Formation Period
  • New couples usually take part in a 7–8 month formation period.  (See Documents)
  • This helps couples understand the spirit and practices of Teams.
  • It also allows the group to build trust and friendship.
  • Couples joining an existing Team are gently guided through this process.
5. Commitment
  • After formation, couples may make a formal commitment to Teams of Our Lady.
  • This includes living the charism, attending meetings faithfully, and practising the spiritual endeavours as best they can.
6. Ongoing Life in Teams
  • Teams continue as a spiritual support community for married life.
  • Couples may also gather for regional or national events, retreats, or pilgrimages.
  • Members are encouraged to serve occasionally in small, manageable roles that support the wider movement.

Couples from all stages of life (newly married, child rearing and empty nesters) can be part of Teams.  It is not parish based, but it is advisable for couples to live in the same geographic vicinity.  Since this is a lay association, lay couples hold all positions of responsibility.

Teams is not a bible study group, nor is it a group where you talk about the ups and downs of married life (unless you want to).  Teams of Our Lady, a gift of the Holy Spirit, is offered to couples throughout the world in order to help them live out their married spirituality.

Our Lady

Our Lady is the Patroness of the Movement however Teams is not a Marian organisation.  Our members strive to follow and imitate Mary’s “Yes!” to God through prayer, scripture and the sacraments. Mary is the perfect disciple and follower of Christ.  She takes everything and everyone to her Son.  The Magnificat prayer is Mary’s proclamation of God’s greatness.  Teams couples say the Magnificat prayer daily in communion with fellow Team members worldwide.

Enrich your married spirituality with Jesus Christ & meet others to build friendships.
